The 2015 theme on my blog is getting kinda old, I know. This is my third post of 2016 and all three have been centred around the New Year. I was contemplating whether or not to even post this as I feel like it’s too far into the New Year to put this post up but I couldn’t skip on sharing my favourite things from 2015! I’ve compiled a little list with my favourite makeup, clothes, music and all that kinda stuff from the year of 2015 and if it’s in here then it means it’s amazing because it’s a favourite of the entire year.
I thought I’d have a whole section for makeup as there’s quite a few bits that have been my ultimate favourite!
MAC Lip Pencil in ‘Subculture’ If you’re a frequent reader of my blog you probably knew that I’d include this. This lipliner is my holy grail, the colour is that ever-so cliché ‘your lips but better’ phrase down to a T and you can wear it with or without a lipstick or other lip product on top. So versatile and just my absolute favourite.
NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation 2015 was the year that I started wearing foundation again after wearing none at all for two whole years, and this was my foundation of choice. I was happily surprised with this foundation, it is exactly what the same says. It’s quite glowy and luminous, good for that glowing, dewy skin look, and it is definitely weightless. The foundation itself isn’t a thick consistency at all, it’s more watery infact, but the coverage is still amazing despite it being lightweight. I just ran out if it at the end of the year and have bought two new foundations since but I’d definitely go back to this one any day, I was so happy with it and I would’ve re-bought it, I just want to try a few foundations since I didn’t wear any for so long before. My shade is Vallauris if you’re interested!
Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette I finally, finally got this palette this year! It’s my favourite Naked palette yet it was the last one I got (not including smoky). I love the taupes and cool tones in this one, and the pigmentation and lasting power of Urban Decay eyeshadows is out of this world.
NARS Laguna Bronzer I finally got the holy grail bronzer of the makeup world last year (I find it so weird referring to 2015 as last year), and I was not disappointed. I’m someone who loves a good, bold contour, and this is what I use to get that. Everyone’s heard about this bronzer before so I won’t go on but I just love it! It’s definitely worth all its hype. I love the formula, the tone of bronze, it lasts for ages on my skin, and the packaging is so pretty and compact with the best mirror!
MAC Fluidline Brow Gelcreme In 2015 I joined the ‘brows on fleek’ bandwagon and purchased this brow gel. It lasted me throughout the entire year, from February until December, and it’s a really good product. Only £1 more than the Anastasia pomade that everyone raved about non stop last year (and I will be buying that this year for sure because I’ve gotta try it) and worth every penny. My only fault with this is something I’ve recently realised after using it for eleven months straight, and that’s that I’ve been buying the wrong colour this whole time. I use dirty blonde because my hair is light so I don’t want my eyebrows to be too dark in contrast but I have black eyebrow hairs and my skin tone is beige so the dirty blonde colour isn’t great for properly doing my eyebrows, having that gradient effect and drawing a nicer shape. It fills my eyebrows in perfectly but it’s too light for me to create a nicer shape with it because my eyebrows are darker than the product so my natural brow stands out past the gelcreme. Amazing product though, and I stupidly repurchased the dirty blonde colour two weeks ago so I’ve another eleven months of wrong coloured brows. Oops. Still a fave though.
MAC Mineralise Skinfinish in ‘Soft & Gentle’ I love glowy skin. The whole highlighting and strobing crazes this last year were right up my street, I think glowy, highlighted skin is my favourite beauty trend of 2015 and I hope it carries on this year – I’ll be carrying it on whether or not anybody else does. This has been one of my favourite products for highlighting, I’d always wanted this when I saw it in MAC because I thought it was pretty and it hasn’t let me down at all. It’s perfect for highlighting, it’s so so beautiful and I love the subtle pink shimmers atop my cheekbones. So beautiful.
& THEN THE REST
My Victoria’s Secret Jumper I’ve no link for this but I love this jumper so so much. I wear it around the house as loungewear (I think that’s its actual purpose), I wear it out and about. I just love it so much and, although it was pricey (around £52), I’m so so happy I bought it because I just live in it nonstop. I love the big, sparkly, obnoxious Victoria’s Secret name on the front. I wore it in this blog post if you’d like to take a look, although the photo isn’t the best! And there’s a similar one from VS here.
Topshop Joni Jeans In 2015 I bought my first pair of these, right at the beginning of the year in January. I then bought a different colour later on in the year, and I’m obsessed. Before I discovered Joni jeans, no jeans actually fit me properly. And sure, I buy my Joni jeans too short otherwise they’ll be baggy on my calf and my ankle, but they fit perfectly when I buy them too short so I have no issues with that. A good pair of skinnies are a fashion staple, especially a black pair. I’ve since ventured out in the jeans department and bought a pair from ASOS, and now I want to expand even more and get some mom or boyfriend style jeans from Topshop or ASOS for that model off duty look (fun fact – I wanted to name my blog ‘model off duty’ because I love that style but I thought it’d look a bit dumb since I’m in no way a model). What I’m trying to say is that Joni jeans made me love jeans again and I wear mine all the time. I also did a blog post styling them here!
James Bay & his debut album ‘Chaos And The Calm’ Oh my gosh, James Bay was an absolute James baE last year. He kicked off 2015 winning the BRITs Critics Choice Award and nobody else deserved it more. His music is just unreal, on another level. So simple but so advanced at the same time. And now that I’m writing this, Chaos And The Calm is the most fitting title for his album because his music is so calming but it can be chaos in a good way at times when it gets more upbeat and rock. We all know how much I love James, I met him back in September (on his birthday!) and saw him live a month later at the Brighton Dome. He’s so lovely and his music is equally as lovely, a standout artist in 2015 for sure.
Delirium – Ellie Goulding We also know how much I love Ellie, and I was so excited to finally hear new music from her in 2015! She is my favourite woman in music and I just bloody love her so much. Her music is my favourite, I’ve actually really grown out of being a proper fan of female singers and she’s probably the only female artist I can listen to all the time now, though I do still love a couple others. Everything Ellie releases, I adore. She can shift and change her sound but I’ll still love it, and her voice is so hauntingly beautiful. I’m just so addicted to her music, and Delirium was a standout album for me in 2015, I loved it. It did not disappoint after that long wait for new music from her. I reviewed it here so please please go read that post as I put so much into it!
The Affair This has got to be my favourite TV show of 2015. I got into this in Summer when I saw it in the On Demand section of the Sky menu and I binge-watched the first few episodes one day during the Summer holidays, until I was caught up and had to wait for a new one every week. It became a little tradition of mine to watch it the morning after it aired in the UK, with a cup of coffee when I had the house to myself. Then season two came about in Autumn when I had started college and Thursdays happened to be the days I finished at 10AM so I could carry on my tradition of watching The Affair in the mornings. It’s such a clever show, it’s shown from different perspectives (two in s1, four in s2) and each perspective has its tiny little differences, and some big ones. be it them remembering what they wore differently or them remembering a whole massive event differently. I love this!!! You need to watch it, not enough people do so I have nobody to talk to about it.
Pretty Little Liars Right at the start of 2015 this was added to UK Netflix and I, like everyone else ever, became addicted. While I was quite disappointed with the A reveal in Summer, there’s no doubt that it’s a good show and it makes you keep coming back to watch it every time. I’m so excited for it to be back this week!
Fifty Shades of Grey I was contemplating whether or not to add this in incase I came off weird for liking the movie, but I don’t wanna just lie or not include it or pretend about anything. I’m not a movie person in the slightest so I barely ever watch any movies but I did enjoy this one and it was my favourite movie of the year. I’m not a fan of the books, I only vaguely know the plot line from the books but I’ve not read them, maybe parts of the first one but that’s it. I’m not a fan of the movie for the books, but just for the movie itself. Dakota was amazing in the movie, she brought a lot of humour and personality to the movie and to Ana which made it more fun and lighthearted, and I love Jamie Dornan too. He’s really good at playing those psychopathic kinda characters!
In terms of my favourite memories from 2015, there’s actually been a lot! Meeting my bestest friend in the whole entire world Rebecca last January for the first time ever was everything. We had a day out in London, shopping on Oxford Street and getting dinner at Wahaca in Soho. We’d been ‘Internet friends’ for so long before and this was the day we’d been waiting for, for ages! Then I got to see the love of my life and my fave musician George Ezra at the O2 Academy in Brixton in February. The Script’s NSWS Tour was next, and I hit up both nights in London and had the best time with my girls, seeing my fave guys! Tinie Tempah was their support and the arena felt like a club in Magaluf while he was performing, I cannot explain to you just how amazing he was, I think he’s the best person I’ve ever seen live. Becca also flew to London for the guys’ second tour date there so getting to spend time with her again was so lovely. In June I finished school and my exams, then went to Ireland for a weekend before my prom. I spent four days in Dublin because I went to see The Script at their huge Croke Park show. Pharrell supported them and I got to go on stage with actual Pharrell infront of over 80,000 people at Croker while he performed which was the most surreal moment ever, now I know how all my faves feel onstage infront of masses of people! And ofcourse I was with Becca again, she stayed with my family and I in a hotel for the first couple nights then I stayed with her at her dad’s place in Dun Laoghaire for the last night I was there and we had so much fun with all the girls. In July my parents and I went to Mallorca again, to Magaluf/Palmanova for the fourth year in a row and to Hotel Hawaii for the third year in a row – I love it there and my first ever blog post was actually on that holiday so you can read that here! In September I met James Bay, I linked my blog post on it earlier in this post so you can go read that, then at the start of October I saw him live and he was insane! Again, my review of that was linked earlier on. Oh yeah, and Ellie Goulding tweeted me in September and I fangirled for the first time in years and cried, lol at me. She RTed me earlier in the year too, the day the GE results were announced, and I kinda fangirled hard there too – I was on FaceTime to Becca so she saw my whole reaction. But before those two events I hadn’t fangirled in so long that it felt weird. Later in October I flew abroad on my own for the first time ever, I went to stay with Becca during half term for three days in the little town of Clarecastle by Ennis. We filmed two videos together, the bestfriend tag and me trying Irish ‘candy’ so go watch those! I can’t think of anything else that really stands out but it’s safe to say that 2015 was a great one.
So those were my favourites of 2015! What were your favourite things from last year?
