August Beauty Favourites

So since we have now reached the final day of August -and Summer!- I thought I’d share my favourite beauty products of the month. Since it’s been Summer, although the weather hasn’t been very summery in the slightest, I’ve enjoyed letting my skin breathe but when I wore makeup, these were my favourite products to put on my face. I’ve started to embrace a more natural makeup look this month on the days that I’ve actually worn any makeup, not wearing any eye makeup aside from mascara most of the time and cutting down some of the face makeup that I usually wear. Most of these products have already been mentioned on my blog but I didn’t invest in any new makeup this month (apart from the Strobe Cream which was featured in a blog post anyway) because I wasn’t wearing much of it anyway.

MAC Strobe Cream
I spoke about this in my glowy skin complexion post so I won’t ramble but it’s a product I’ve fallen in love with. It was the only new addition to my makeup bag this month and it was a great purchase. It makes a beautiful, glowy base and it also looks good on its own, adding some glow to your skin when you don’t want to wear makeup. Whenever I’ve worn little or no makeup at all, I usually add this to give me a healthy glow and to make me look more awake.

NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation
Possibly the longest name for a foundation ever? The name promises to do a lot of things – last all day, look luminous and feel weightless. Does it fufil the high expectations that it sets? Yes. I actually went two whole years without ever wearing foundation, relying on BB cream or powder to give me some coverage, and this was the very first foundation I bought and wore after not wearing foundation for so long. It’s the only foundation I’ve worn since. It gives amazing coverage but still feels light and weightless, as promised, on your skin which is what made me buy it. You can’t feel it on your skin which is a huge advantage because I didn’t like wearing foundation because it was so heavy and cake-y but this foundation isn’t. I love having glowy, dewy skin and this foundation really helps with that because it is luminous as its name suggests. It doesn’t have an obvious, in-your-face glow but it is noticeably luminous compared to any other foundation. Its lasting power is amazing too although it does look a lot better when you’ve first applied it as opposed to a whole day of wearing it. I’ve been loving it because it doesn’t feel cake-y so even though I’ve not been wearing much makeup, this still feels acceptable to wear because of how light it feels and how natural it is.

NARS Laguna Bronzer
There’s not much to say about this because it’s so well-known in the makeup world and because I’ve featured it in a post before but this is an obvious favourite because of how much of an all-rounder it is. It’s perfect for contouring, it’s perfect for giving you a bronzed glow and its lack of shimmers means that it always looks beautifully natural.

YSL Babydoll Mascara
Again, this is something that I’ve spoken about before on my blog, in the same post as the bronzer, but it’s such a favourite of mine this month because I’ve mostly worn it on its own, without any eyeshadow or eyeliner. It’s extremely lengthening, which is what I love in a mascara, and it gives a decent amount of volume too without making the lashes look clumpy. It makes your eyes look amazing on its own which is why I’ve loved it so much this month.

MAC Fluidline Brow Gelcreme
I much prefer using a gel to a powder on my eyebrows and this one does everything I want it to. Having good brows is the game-changer when it comes to how you look so most of the time when I’ve gone out without makeup, I’ve still used this.

MAC Lip Pencil in Subculture
Since the whole Kylie Jenner lip trend started last year, I’ve enjoyed lining and slightly overdrawing my lips, and that enjoyment hasn’t stopped. I love Subculture because, for my lip colour, it’s the perfect ‘your lips but better’ kind of shade. I’ve worn it to death though, which is why it’s so tiny and sharpened down now, but that can only be a good thing because it means it’s so amazing that I’ve used it that much. It’s so versatile that it goes with every neutral or pink lipstick I own and I also wear it on it’s own too because it’s a really pretty, natural shade.

MAC Lipstick in Brave
I’ve literally just spoken about this on my blog, in my MAC lipstick collection post. It’s my everyday, go-to lipstick shade and I wear it day in, day out. It’s a dark nude pink colour so it gives you some colour while still looking subtle and natural. I love how this looks against my skin tone and it’s a very versatile colour because it suits a lot of different makeup looks, which is something I love about it because it means I can vary the colours of my eyeshadow or the amount of makeup I wear but I’m still able to wear this.

What have your favourite products been throughout the month of August?
