There’s something I love about the way an oversized denim jacket and over the knee boots look from behind, like you aren’t wearing anything underneath, maybe it comes from my love for looking like you’re wearing lingerie out when you’re actually wearing clothes.

The denim trend is still going strong this year, following on from its rise last Autumn/Winter, and it’s something I’ve happily embraced for a second AW season in a row. I got this denim jacket from Zara in Lithuania back in February when I went to visit my family, it was in the sale and I picked it up in a S instead of an XS because I wanted it to be oversized but I didn’t realised just how oversized it would be, I probably would’ve been fine with the XS. The length of the jacket put me off it for a long time but this Autumn I’ve been wearing it nonstop and embracing the length of it, especially with these boots.

Over the knee / thigh high boots are an Autumn Winter staple and I finally found my perfect pair in Topshop at the beginning of this year. If you’re not ready to give up skirts and dresses, and don’t want to wear tights, then over the knee boots are the perfect compromise. They’ll keep you warm but still let you go barelegged, even if it’s only a bit of your thigh that’s actually bare.

There’s a Topshop section in my work and all Summer long when I was working almost everyday I would walk past and stare longingly at this top and this skirt, imaging how perfect they’d look together as an outfit. Obviously when my payday at the end of Summer came around, I had to buy both pieces. The combo of the two completely lived up to all my expectations, and they both look good with other pieces too. The white top is fine knit which makes it warm but thin enough to layer under pinafores and tuck into skirts and, although I already had two other leopard print skirts from Topshop, I love the colouring of this one. It’s very cool toned and looks slightly grey in some light, and we all know how much I adore wearing grey. I’m a massive fan of the A-Line skirt shape too, an the material of this skirt is slightly thicker than most because of the material and texture which gives it better structure.

This outfit has been a staple for me during Autumn and I’m looking forward to wearing it in Winter too, adding layers or swapping the jacket for a coat to transition the outfit for the even colder months to keep me nice and warm.
What’s your go-to outfit this Autumn?
