elevating your outfit with jewellery

I’ve missed the lil fashion styling posts like this one I did before!! So ofc they have to make a comeback.

I’ve been a big fan of simple tops and jumpers with jeans recently but if you know me I’ve always had a bit of a reputation for over dressing so I need to find a way to make a casual outfit a lil less boring, and this is where jewellery comes in.

My issue is I’m a bit picky when it comes to jewellery. I only like silver jewellery and I have to choose it to know if I like it. I love a hoop earring, I love layering pretty lil necklaces but they still can’t just be any necklaces. In short, I love a good bit of jewellery but I find it hard to find what I’d actually want to wear.

So considering my pickiness with jewellery but my new dependence on it to dress up and otherwise boring (in my eyes anyway) outfit, when I find good stuff like all my new jewellerybox bits it’s a pretty big deal and I wanna shout about it, so I’m gonna share how I’ve been elevating these simple lil outfits with some pretty silver jewellery.

My fave thing to do is find some cute, simple silver necklaces that I can layer up over a really plain top. I love the necklaces that have tiny lil charms all across the front instead of a chain with one charm right on the end in the middle but I find it so hard to find these kinds for some reason. Jewellerybox had two beaut ones that were exactly what I’ve been looking for, and I added in one longer silver chain to mix up the length for ultimate layering and to tone down all the charms. I’m obsessed with this lil combo and I love mixing them with my very few other necklaces that I’ve found fit the bill.

the earrings

I am a hoop girl through and through. Bigger the better, but I also love a medium sized everyday hoop. The struggle with hoops is that once you’ve got a pair in one size, you’ve got it and you don’t need any more, so you’ve gotta go down the route of changing the shape. These octagon (I think it’s 8???? I counted off the photo) ones are the same size as my every day hoops but they let me change it up a bit with a different shape. It’s one of those things like wearing pretty underwear, people don’t really know or notice but you know you’ve got something a bit different on so it makes you feel good. That’s me with changing up the shape of my hoops lol.

I also had to throw in these cat mermaid earrings because it’s me and are we even surprised? I love cats anyway but seeing a kitty with a mermaid tail in a cute little earring sold me. This is one of those ones where if I had second holes I’d wear it as a second one 24/7 alongside hoops (I still need to get those done!!) but because I don’t I have to be wearing something that doesn’t need hoops to make it more dramatic. Someone pierce my second ones pls so I can live in the cat mermaids forever.

So there ya have it. That’s how I’m styling up my boring outfits with nice jewellery to give them a new lease of life. Can’t go wrong with cute earrings and layering a ton of necklaces across your top. 11/10.
